Acquisition of Terra Scientific's assets

Hill Labs has been committed to the contaminated land and asbestos sectors for many years. As part of our ongoing growth, we are excited to announce that as of the 3rd May 2024, we will acquire some of the assets of Terra Scientific Ltd (TSL), including their asbestos business and ICP-MS instrument. This acquisition will allow us to grow our existing asbestos business, and the addition of an extra ICP-MS will create additional capacity for us in the metals testing space.

Terra Scientific was established in Christchurch just over five years ago, initially focusing on asbestos analyses before expanding into metals and organics in soil for contaminated land customers. We have enjoyed getting to know Jess Griffin, one of the co-founders of TSL, and with whom we feel strong values alignment, and so we are looking forward to welcoming Jess and her team into our Christchurch asbestos team as part of this deal.

Both Hill Labs and Terra Scientific are committed to ensuring a seamless transition of operations from TSL into Hill Labs. If you have any questions regarding this change, please don't hesitate to get in touch with Jared Halstead (National Business Unit Manager - Asbestos) at jared.halstead@hill-labs.co.nz.

Over the years I’ve performed a variety of business support roles – Receptionist, Office Manager, Induction Officer, Client Services Coordinator, HR Administrator and now my current role which is part time in the Human Resources team as Hill Labs’ HR Support and Recruitment Advisor."

“Come October this year, I’ve been with Hill Labs for 30 years. Personally, there are so many stand out moments during my career but one of the most significant has been the opportunity to help grow the organics section in the lab, being part of the clean-up of the old Fruitgrowers’ Chemical Company DDT plant in Mapua, and helping to grow the methamphetamine testing service which grew from nothing to being a very significant contributor to our business at one stage."
