Glyphosate Testing

Glyphosate testing in honey is now a requirement for any producer exporting to Japan and Europe. Our glyphosate method is IANZ accredited and MPI recognised so you can have confidence your product meets this export requirement.

What is Glyphosate?

Glyphosate, a widely used herbicide, can contaminate honey when bees forage in areas where it has been sprayed. Bees can collect nectar from plants treated with glyphosate, and this nectar, which can contain glyphosate residues, is then converted into honey.

Why Is Glyphosate Testing Important for Honey?

Glyphosate testing in honey is a proactive measure to ensure food safety, comply with international standards, and monitor potential contamination. While most honey samples meet safety requirements, testing is crucial for export purposes and for maintaining consumer confidence in the product's purity. Some countries have established Maximum Residue Limits (MRLs) for glyphosate in honey.

You can opt-in to receive glyphosate trace level reporting (down to 0.002 mg/kg) as part of your routine honey testing.

What is the Turnaround Time for Glyphosate Testing?

Results for routine testing are available in two working days and the next working day for urgent testing.
