Connecting with Farmers and Growers at Fieldays

We are looking forward to our 28th year at Fieldays this year, connecting with farmers, growers and industry professionals from across New Zealand. Events like Fieldays are a great opportunity for our team to get out from behind the desk, hear directly from the sector, and continue building strong relationships within the agricultural community.

You’ll find a number of our team members on site - including Emily Galbraith and Maysell Coysh, who have both recently stepped into Key Account Manager roles within our Agriculture team.

Both Emily and Maysell bring a strong understanding of the agricultural sector and a shared commitment to supporting farmers and growers through practical, informed advice. Their roles focus on working closely with key customers, taking the time to understand individual needs and ensuring testing services deliver meaningful value on-farm and across the wider industry.

Emily’s connection to agriculture runs deep – she grew up on a sheep and beef farm and remains actively involved in the family operation. This solid grounding continues to shape how she works with people, with a strong focus on listening, understanding and supporting farmers and growers to make confident decisions for their systems.

Maysell brings extensive experience from across the business, with nearly nine years at Hill Labs spanning laboratory and commercial roles. Her journey has given her a broad perspective and strong problem-solving skills, which she now applies to our digital tools, making it easier to test with us.

For both Emily and Maysell, staying connected to the industry is key - whether that’s through events like Fieldays and the Ballance Farm Environment Awards, or everyday conversations. These interactions ensure they stay up to date with changing conditions, evolving regulations and the different challenges across the sector. At the heart of their work is a focus on making things easier. They do this by providing clear, reliable information that supports better decision-making.

If you’re heading along to Fieldays, Emily, Maysell and the rest of the team will be there and would love to catch up. Whether you have questions about plants, soil, effluent, water, honey, or something else, we’re here to help. You can find us at site PE24 in the Pavilion. Pop past on the Wednesday or Thursday for a coffee and a pastry!

New Analysers for Dissolved Nutrients in Water

Hill Labs processes tens of thousands of samples annually for dissolved nutrient testing. The analysis of dissolved reactive phosphorus and dissolved nitrogen species, including ammoniacal nitrogen, nitrite, and nitrate, forms a core laboratory workflow where the timely delivery of high‑quality results is essential. We recently transitioned to a new Flow Injection Analyser (FIA) platform for all dissolved nutrient testing, and we are excited to share more information on this.
